Living Within


From the frigid thin-air mountains to the sultry moist valleys of Nepal, human life is deeply bonded to nature. It is where they find resources for their survival and opportunities to generate income.

Down the Rapti river, at the Royal Chitwan National Park, culture, livelihood and local economy for the Tharu indigenous people depends almost exclusively on the resources of the forest, river and animals. Whether in a context of subsistence or cultural manifestation of traditions, whether for wildlife exploration for tourism, peoples relationship with nature can be intimate, sacred and yet cruel and controversial.
